RICHMOND, Va. -- The U.S. attorney's office for the eastern district of Virginia raked in more than $45 million in fiscal year 2013 in criminal and civil actions.
The tally of ill-gotten gains of criminal activity was announced by U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente. He said in a release more than $24 million was collected in criminal actions.
The collections include a number of prosecutions. One, for instance, involved the recovery of $3 million as part of a settlement with three CIA contractors. The allegations involved a bidding contract with the agency.
Another action involved a settlement resolving claims of discrimination in mortgage lending programs of a bank.
