BWI, Dulles break decades-old record lows

Tuesday - 1/7/2014, 2:40pm  ET

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The National Weather Service says record lows have been set at both Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International and Dulles International airports.

The agency says the temperature was 3 degrees at BWI and 1 degree at Dulles early Tuesday. These lows break previous records for the day set at 8 degrees at both airports in 1988.

Reagan National Airport just outside Washington had so far just missed its record low temperature of 5 degrees set in 1884. The airport got down to 6 degrees early Tuesday.

Temperatures in the region are expected to go up during the day Tuesday, but not much. With the wind chill, temperatures should feel at or below zero in most locations.
