CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) -- A former Chesterfield County volunteer firefighter faces charges of stealing a fire truck.
Media outlets report that 27-year-old Kevin W.T. Burns of Chesterfield County is charged with grand larceny.
Police say the fire truck was stolen from a fenced county maintenance lot in July. Burns is accused of taking the truck on a joyride and then wrecking it.
Police found the truck in a ditch.
Chesterfield Fire and EMS Lt. Jason Elmore says Burns was terminated in August due to an unrelated personnel issue. Burns had joined the department as a volunteer in December 2011.
