William & Mary defeat Old Dominion 74-68

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Marcus Thornton scored 26 points with three assists and three steals as William & Mary defeated Old Dominion 74-68 Wednesday night.

Julian Boatner had 14 points and Kyle Gailard scored nine with six rebounds and three assists. Omar Prewitt came off the bench to add 11 points for the Tribe (7-5).

Prewitt sank a 3-pointer at 11:08 in the first period to cap a 20-7 run by William & Mary to start the contest. The Tribe led by nine at the break.

Old Dominion came out strong early in the second period on the shooting of Dimitri Batten and Aaron Barcote to take a brief, one-point lead at 15:38.

Thornton, Boatner and Prewitt answered for the Tribe with a series hits from beyond the arc to give them a 60-53 advantage going into the final minutes.

Barcote scored 28 points with four rebounds to lead the Monarchs (5-9).
