BEDFORD, Va. -- It's been a challenging year for a longtime attraction along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford County.
The Peaks of Otter Lodge reopened under new management in July following an eight-month closure. The 63-room lodge closed again in October because of the partial federal government shutdown.
Operator Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts is now looking forward to better times for the lodge.
Director of marketing Helen Morton tells The News and Advance (http://bit.ly/19VMiEF ) that visitors returned as soon as the government shutdown ended.
Delaware North had planned to operate the lodge seasonally. But Morton says the restaurant and gift shop will be open during winter weekends. A special package is being offered for New Year's Eve.
