BEDFORD, Va. -- A Navy pilot charged with extorting a 14-year-old Bedford County girl with whom he was having an online relationship is being denied bond for a second time.
The News & Advance reports (http://bit.ly/18xaBtu) that 30-year- old Daniel Chase Harris was denied bond again in Bedford Circuit Court on Tuesday. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 7.
Harris is accused of threatening the girl if she didn't send sexually explicit pictures of herself to him. He's also is charged with using an electronic communications device to facilitate offenses against children.
Harris was arrested last month in Virginia Beach.
His attorney, Adam Moseley, said his client is in weapons-training school at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. Harris is still employed by the U.S. Navy but not receiving pay during confinement.
