Body of D.C. officer accused of child pornography pulled from Washington Channel

WASHINGTON - A Metropolitan Police officer who was pulled from the Washington Channel near Hains Point in Southwest Tuesday night is dead.

The Metropolitan Police Department identifies the man as 32-year-old Marc Washington of Waldorf, Md.

Washington, who has worked for D.C. police since 2006, had been accused of taking nude photos of an underage girl. He faced charges of child pornography.

A news release from the police department said a 911 call from a man came in about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.

U.S. Park Police responded and found an unattended vehicle and some clothing located nearby.

Police with the Metropolitan Police Department's Harbor Branch recovered Washington's body from the water around 9 p.m. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
