STAUNTON, Va. (AP) -- A former prison guard convicted of accepting bribes from an inmate will spend a year behind bars.
The News Leader (http://bit.ly/1glDcEP ) reports that Casey Forbes pleaded guilty in Augusta County Circuit Court to two counts of bribery of a public official on Monday.
The Hot Springs resident received four-year sentences on each charge with three years suspended. The sentences will run concurrently.
Augusta County chief deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Rupen Shah says Forbes accepted bribes from an inmate to bring marijuana and tobacco into the Augusta Correctional Center.
Forbes served as a corrections officer at the prison in Craigsville for three years before he was fired. He was indicted in July.
