Acting chief of US Park Police named

WASHINGTON -- The United States Park Police says Deputy Chief Robert MacLean has been named acting chief of the agency.

MacLean will become acting chief on Friday. He will succeed Teresa Chambers, who announced last month that she was retiring after 35 years as sworn police officer.

MacLean currently is commander, Homeland Security Division, responsible for the agency's mission Washington and New York City.

He joined the U.S. Park Police in 1991.
