Body found during search for missing Va. woman

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) -- Lynchburg police say a woman's body has been found in a heavily wooded area near U.S. 460.

The News & Advance reports (http://bit.ly/1bhhrCv ) that the body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office for identification.

City police Lt. Dave Gearhart says a team searching for missing 18-year-old Jamisha Gilbert of Lynchburg found the body Wednesday morning.

Gilbert was reported missing Sunday by her mother. Friends last saw her between midnight and 1 a.m. Friday. Police found her car crashed into a guardrail in the city later Friday morning, but Gilbert was nowhere to be found.
