Severe thunderstom warning issued for listening area

WASHINGTON - The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 1:15 a.m. and a watch until 4 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18. A wind advisory has also been issued for parts of Virginia until 6 a.m.

In Maryland, the warning and watch includes the north central and western counties of Frederick, Washington and Allegany.

In Virginia, the warning and watch encompasses several areas. The counties include:

  1. Loudoun
  2. Culpeper
  3. Fauquier
  4. Albemarle
  5. Greene
  6. Nelson
  7. Orange
  8. Clarke
  9. Frederick
  10. Madison
  11. Page
  12. Rappahannock
  13. Shenandoah
  14. Warren
  15. Augusta
  16. Highland
  17. Rockingham

In West Virginia, the watch includes these eight counties:

  1. Berkeley
  2. Grant
  3. Hampshire
  4. Hardy
  5. Jefferson
  6. Mineral
  7. Morgan
  8. Pendleton

A wind advisory is also in effect until 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 for Warren, Page, Shenandoah, Madison, and Rappahannock Counties for elevations above 2,500 feet for winds of 20 TO 30 MPH with gusts up to 50 MPH.
