CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Jeld-Wen Inc. plans to close its door manufacturing plant in Christiansburg early next year.
Jeld-Wen says in a new release that the closure is part of a move to improve production efficiency. The window and door manufacturer says it's investing in larger, more efficient facilities in North American and Europe.
The Christiansburg plant is scheduled to close on Jan. 31, 2014. Jeld-Wen says it's encouraging the plant's 109 workers to transfer to other production facilities.
Workers who decided not to transfer will receive severance benefits and job search assistance.
