BOONSBORO, Md. -- Boonsboro's town manager has resigned, saying she and the town have different goals.
Debra Smith, who has been town manager since 2006, resigned Friday. The town Council accepted her resignation, effectively immediately, on Monday.
The 51-year-old Smith has worked for town government for 18 years. She tells The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown (http://bit.ly/HefET4) that she looks back on accomplishments such as new development and a revitalization study. She also pointed to difficulties, such as the $7.9 million debt for the town's sewer plant.
Mayor Charles F. "Skip" Kauffman Jr. said he hated to see Smith leave.
