PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) -- The Coast Guard says it has suspended its search for a man who reportedly fell overboard from a fishing vessel in the Chesapeake Bay.
Officials say the 170-foot Fleeton told the Coast Guard around 9 a.m. Monday that 32-year-old crewmember Bernard Redmond hadn't been seen or heard from in a few hours.
The ship was traveling south in the Chesapeake Bay.
The Coast Guard suspended its search Tuesday after about 21 hours. The search covered 300 square nautical miles.
The Virginian-Pilot reports (http://bit.ly/17vcZP2) that a Coast Guard rescue helicopter and boats were all sent to help with the search about 5 miles east of the mouth of the Rappahannock River.
