BETHESDA, Md. - How to make Halloween even sweeter? By helping Treats-4-Troops.

Let the kids do their normal trick-or-treating and then give the excess candy to those protecting us. Organizers are also interested in the candy that would be taken to the office, or the candy taken to the office already.

The candy collection effort is the brain child of a Bethesda non-profit mother's group called MoverMoms.

This is the seventh year they have held this campaign and it has now spread throughout the D.C. region. They will collect leftover candy from Nov. 1 to 10 and take it to Boatsie's Boxes, which includes the candy in the thousands of Christmas stockings it send to U.S. military men and women serving in Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Korea - up to 7 tons of candy in a year.

As organizer and MoverMoms Executive Director Rebecca Kahlenberg puts it, by donating wrapped candy and any leftover snack foods, you will teach children about the joys of giving and sharing, brighten a soldier's day and get the candy out of your home or office.
