SALEM, Va. (AP) -- General Electric says it is eliminating some salaried jobs at the company's Salem plant by the end of the year.
The company confirmed Thursday that fewer than 20 of the GE Controls and Power Electronics facility's 740 workers will be affected.
In a statement to The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/17hkCLb) the company said it is looking at ways to reduce costs to stay competitive in the challenging and dynamic water and power business.
The company said it will help affected employees seek other jobs within the company or provide severance and outplacement assistance.
