LOUISA, Va. (AP) -- A nuclear reactor at Dominion Virginia Power's North Anna power station is back in service following an unplanned shutdown.
The utility was restarting Unit 1 following a scheduled refueling and maintenance outage when the reactor automatically shut down last Thursday.
Dominion Virginia Power tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1cQZv3t ) that a protection relay associated with a station service transformer caused the shutdown. The utility says workers hadn't returned the relay to its proper operational configuration.
Unit 1 was returned to service on Sunday afternoon.
