Twin brothers die in 1 of 3 crashes that left 5 dead in Loudoun County

WASHINGTON – Three separate vehicle crashes from Friday through Sunday left five people dead in Loudoun County, authorities say.

Twin brothers died when driving a 1994 Ford Explorer through a curve near the intersection of Evergreen Mills and Resevoir Road in Leesburg around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Their vehicle crossed the center line, ran off the road and hit a tree. The SUV caught fire and was quickly engulfed in flames.

The car’s only occupants were Aaron W. Henry and Vincent B Henry, twin brothers, both 26.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash.

Another crash occurred at about 2:30 p.m. Friday when the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says a 2004 Porsche SUV heading west on Route 50 near Briar Patch Lane in the Aldie area crossed the center line and hit a 2013 Chrysler minivan carrying six women from Texas.

Irene Ellisor, 86, of Huntsville, Texas, was sitting in the van’s backseat and died at the scene. Authorities say she was not wearing a seat belt.

The minivan’s driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition, while a passenger in the front seat was taken to a hospital with serious injuries but since has been released. The three others in the van also were taken to area hospitals and released.

The Porsche’s driver was taken to the hospital and later released. The incident is pending review by the commonwealth’s attorney’s office.

A third crash happened at about 12:50 a.m. when a BMW 750Li driven by 52-year-old Mark Sgarlata collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says a preliminary investigation indicates Sgarlata was turning left into a shopping center at Junction Plaza from Ashburn Farm Parkway when he hit the motorcycle.

The motorcycle’s driver and passenger — Patrick Wrenn Jr., 52, and Leia Wrenn, 44, both of Ashburn — were thrown from the bike and died at a local hospital, officials say.

Authorities say Sgarlata, of Ashburn, has been charged with driving under the influence and two counts of felony aggravated involuntary manslaughter. He was not injured in the crash and was being held without bond.
