James Madison suspends guard Nation for first 15 games

Monday - 9/30/2013, 7:54pm  ET

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Sophomore guard Andre Nation will miss the first 15 games of the season for James Madison while serving a suspension for a violation of athletic department policy.

Athletic director Jeff Bourne made the announcement Monday. He gave no additional details.

The suspension will keep Nation sidelined until the Dukes' second Colonial Athletic Association game of the season Jan. 7 at College of Charleston.

Nation started 27 of 35 games last season, averaging 9.3 points. He had his best game in the Dukes' biggest, scoring 24 points in a loss to Indiana in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Coach Matt Brady says he hopes Nation will learn that he is "part of something greater than himself and is accountable to his team and to the entire JMU community."
