ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (AP) -- A lawsuit stemming from a wreck that killed two Rocky Mount volunteer firefighters has gone to trial.

Christie Altice-Weaver filed the lawsuit against Teri Anne Valentine and the estate of Rocky Mount Fire Chief Posey Dillon.

Dillon and Altice-Weaver's father, William "Danny" Altice, were killed in July 2010 as they were responding to a call. State police have said their fire truck was hit by an SUV driven by Valentine.

The lawsuit alleges that Valentine and Dillon were negligent. Dillon was driving the fire truck when the wreck occurred.

The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/1bCYlrS ) reports that the trial began Monday in Franklin County Circuit Court.

The lawsuit seeks $2 million in damages.
