MOUNT AIRY, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police plan to charge a Carroll County man in his father's slaying.
A trooper called to the Mount Airy home Monday for a report of a disturbance found 31-year-old Joseph Pine standing outside and he surrendered to the trooper. Other troopers found Pine's 63-year-old father, Michael, on the front porch next door. He was pronounced dead.
Police say the men fought and the son assaulted his father with one or more knives and chased him outside. No one else lived at the home and no one else was at the home when the altercation occurred.
Police say Joseph Pine was taken to Carroll Hospital Center for medical and psychological evaluations and investigators plan to charge him with first- and second-degree murder.
