TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Baltimore County police say a teenager who was in the home when a police officer was fatally shot has been charged with firearms violations.
Officers said Thursday that 17-year-old Taquan Barney of Catonsville has been charged as an adult. He is being held without bail.
Police say officers found a loaded .22 caliber handgun in Barney's front pants pocket.
Officer Jason Schneider was shot and killed Wednesday morning during an exchange of gunfire at the Catonsville home after law enforcers tried to serve a search warrant. The man suspected of shooting Schneider, 25-year-old Tevon Smith of Catonsville, also died.
