HAMPTON, Va. (AP) -- The Air Force says it will use a specially designed C-130 aircraft to spray for mosquitoes at Langley Air Force Base and other areas of Hampton Roads.
The spraying is scheduled to occur from Aug. 27 to Aug. 29.
The spraying areas include York County, Craney Island and the U.S. Coast Guard station in Portsmouth. Sections of Portsmouth next to military installations will also be sprayed.
The Air Force says the C-130 Hercules will fly about 150 to 200 feet over the areas while it is spraying for mosquitoes. The spraying is expected to kill about 95 percent of adult mosquitoes in those areas.
The reduction in mosquito populations is expected to last up to two weeks.
