SEVERNA PARK, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police say a man who broke into a car and tried to flee the scene on a stolen bicycle was tackled by a passer-by, who held him until officers arrived.
Police say about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, a man was returning to his car in Severna Park when he saw someone in the driver's seat. The victim yelled and the suspect fled on foot.
Officers say the suspect dropped the victim's cellphone, which the victim picked up and used to call police.
Authorities say people heard the victim yelling, and one man ran after the suspect. Police say the suspect grabbed a bicycle behind a house and tried to escape, but the man chasing him tackled him.
Twenty-two-year-old Garrett Sullivan of Annapolis was arrested and charged with theft.
