BALTIMORE -- Construction has begun on the downtown track for the Grand Prix of Baltimore.
Organizers held a ceremonial dropping of the first section of jersey wall on Tuesday and announced that it will only take 21 days to build the track for the Labor Day weekend event this year. It took 31 days to build last year and 45 days in the first year. The two-mile track through downtown Baltimore's streets is also slightly shorter than last year's track to minimize the impact on traffic.
Organizers won't say how many tickets they have sold, but they say it is more than last year's 130,000.
