CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) -- Chesterfield County police say tests are being conducted on guns in hopes of finding the person responsible for the death of a 7- year-old boy who was killed by a stray bullet.
The testing is part of the ever-widening search for the person responsible for the death of Brendon Mackey.
The bullet hit Mackey on the top of his head as he walked with his father to a July 4 fireworks display at Swift Creek Reservoir. The boy died the next day.
Police have searched neighborhoods within a 2-mile radius of where Mackey was shot.
WRIC-TV (http://bit.ly/14ew465 ) also reports that investigators are testing guns that were obtained voluntarily.
Two of those guns remain at the state lab.
