Bieber has nothing on Ozzy, Dick Dale this weekend

WASHINGTON – Justin Bieber’s appearance at Verizon Center may be sold out, but there are plenty of other worthy concert contenders this weekend.

Friday night, Ozzy Osbourne leads Black Sabbath at Jiffy Lube Live.

The band’s latest album, “13,” is surprisingly solid — and Ozzy can still enthrall hardcore metal fans in person.

On the other end of the rock spectrum, Paul Rogers and Bad Company are scheduled to perform Friday night at the PNC Waterside Pavilion.

According to Bad Company’s website, there will be new studio material to mark the band’s 40th anniversary.

Jam-band enthusiasts will want to head to the 9:30 Club Friday night for gospel/funk pedal steel wizard Robert Randolph and opener Tauk.

Tauk’s rock-fusion style is engaging, and their energetic live shows have the potential to attract hippies and hipsters alike.

Sunday night is going to be a tossup for Americana fans — surf guitar legend Dick Dale performs at the Birchmere while Chuck Prophet is scheduled for a full-band performance at IOTA Club and Cafe.
