Woman sexually assaulted near Howard University Monday

WASHINGTON – A woman was sexually assaulted near Howard University Monday morning, police say.

Police say a woman was walking in the area of the 2600 block of 6th Street around 8 a.m. when a man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted.

The suspect is described as black, with a dark complexion, 6 feet, slim to medium build, 18 to 20 years old and last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black and white shorts. Police say they may have been swim shorts.

Anyone with information that can assist in the identification of this subject is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this offense.
