BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Tech's new Center for the Arts doesn't open until Nov. 1 but advance season ticket sales are strong.
About a third of the $100 million center's seating capacity for 25 scheduled shows already has been sold.
The main theater's maximum seating is 1,260. There also is a smaller venue called "The Cube" that can seat about 100.
Spokeswoman Susan Bland tells The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/13Oh5uS ) that the center has sold the equivalent of about 5,400 tickets through subscription packages so far.
Tickets to individual performances will go on sale Aug. 6.
