RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A new report reveals that troubled nutritional supplements maker Star Scientific asked senior McDonnell administration officials to place its anti-inflammatory product, Anatabloc, on a list of items available to state employees on their health plan, but the request was denied.

That's the finding of a state-appointed lawyer assigned to examine whether the company or chief executive Jonnie Williams, received any monetary state benefits during Gov. Bob McDonnell's term. Williams was a McDonnell political donor and personal benefactor to McDonnell's family.

Democratic former Attorney General Anthony Troy's report released Thursday concluded that neither Star Scientific nor Williams benefited from meetings with McDonnell cabinet members or their representatives.

Emails disclosed Thursday showed that McDonnell helped arrange a 2010 meeting for Williams with Virginia Health Secretary Bill Hazel to tout the product.
