Homes evacuated after gas line break in Md.

WASHINGTON – The gas leak has ended, according to the Montgomery County Fire Department.

The leak has been valved off. Only 70 homes were affected, the fire department said.

WASHINGTON – Homes are being evacuated in Germantown after a gas line break.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service says the break is located near Scenery Drive and Brandermill Drive. An 8-inch, high-pressure gas line was broken, but the cause is unclear.

A fire spokesman could not say how many homes are being evacuated. Washington Gas Company is on the scene, working to fix the problem.
