BLACKSBURG, Va. -- A national conference is convening at Virginia Tech to explore strategies to ensure greater diversity in natural resource careers.
The three- day conference sponsored by Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment begins Wednesday on the Blacksburg campus. The gathering will bring together 100 professionals from the public and private sector.
The dean of the college, Paul Winistorfer, says it's critical to have a workforce and leaders reflecting diverse backgrounds that deal with pressing environmental problems that affect a diverse population.
Workshops and presentations will focus on the best practices currently in use to achieve that end.
