CHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) -- Two Norfolk police officers are scheduled to appear in a Chesapeake court this week on assault charges they filed against each other.
The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/12Ezb7W ) reports that Officer Matthew A. Watson and Officer Sarah E. Bennett obtained warrants from different magistrates last week. Each officer is charged with misdemeanor assault.
Bennett also is charged with destruction of property.
Bennett says in a statement that Watson punched her in the head. Watson says in a statement that he hit Bennett in self-defense after she attacked him twice at her residence.
Both officers are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Chesapeake General District Court.
