HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) -- The Virginia State Police are investigating the shooting along Interstate 81 near Harrisonburg that resulted in the wounding of a tractor-trailer driver.
The shooting took place shortly after midnight on Saturday along the interstate in Rockingham County. Officials say the incident appears to be the result of a road rage incident.
Police say the tractor trailer was driving on the southbound lanes when the driver from another vehicle shot into the passenger side of the tractor trailer and struck the driver the right leg.
The tractor-trailer driver tried following the shooter, but lost the vehicle in traffic. The tractor-trailer driver then pulled into a rest area and reported the incident to police.
The 43-year-old from Arizona was taken to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threating injuries.
