Allegany County 911 dispatchers to get pay raises

Saturday - 5/25/2013, 11:30am  ET

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- Emergency dispatchers in Allegany County are set to receive a pay raise for the next three years.

The Times-News of Cumberland (http://bit.ly/14MSSbU ) reports that the pay increase was guaranteed under an agreement reached Thursday evening between the county and the workers.

The contract provides for a cost of living adjustment of 3 percent for each year of the three-year contract. It also includes a no-strike clause.

The county says it saved about $1 million by refinancing its debt earlier this year, helping the government afford the pay increase.
