ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Two more casino companies have applied for a license to build a casino near the nation's capital, bringing the total number of applicants to three.
Penn National Gaming Inc. and Greenwood Racing, Inc. both submitted proposals before Friday's deadline with the state. A subsidiary of MGM Resorts International submitted its proposal earlier this week for an $800 million casino at National Harbor.
Penn National is proposing a $700 million casino at the company's Rosecroft Raceway in Prince George's County. Maryland Casino LLC, a subsidiary of Greenwood Racing, is proposing to build an $800 million casino in Fort Washington.
Maryland lawmakers last year approved allowing one casino location in Prince George's. It would be the state's sixth casino location.
