Young Scrabble experts square off in Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) -- There's a war of words going on in Washington this weekend.

More than 100 young Scrabble players are in the District of Columbia for the National School Scrabble Championship.

The event is taking place at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. All contestants are in grades four through eight and are playing in teams of two.

Games began Friday and continue through Saturday, when the finals will be held. The top prize is $10,000.
