DHHS renews contract for Chesterfield call center

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (AP) -- General Dynamics Information Technology's call center in Chesterfield County will continue to handle consumer inquiries for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes says the department's Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services awarded a 10-year operations contract to the company.

Forbes said Tuesday in a statement that the call center will handle consumer inquiries about programs such as the Health Insurance Marketplace and the Medicare Modernization Act.

The call center employs about 1,000 workers.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/ZzqLwf ) reports that the company plans to hire additional workers and to add facilities as required.
