WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- Carroll County authorities say they've charged a 13-year-old girl with making a false threat to blow up a middle school.
The sheriff's office says the threat against West Middle School was contained in a note Tuesday. The school was evacuated, but the threat was determined to be a hoax and students returned to class by noon.
The child, whose name has not been released, was charged as a juvenile with making a false statement about a destructive device.
The sheriff's office says that threat appears unrelated to another bomb threat Tuesday that led to the shutdown of the county's Circuit and District Court buildings.
