ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland House of Delegates is still debating potential changes to a major gun-control measure.

The House is expected to vote on the bill Wednesday.

Democratic lawmakers defeated Republican efforts to weaken the measure Tuesday night and continued to reject other amendments offered by the GOP on Wednesday.

The House has made some changes to the bill approved by the Senate more than a month ago. But the strongest parts of the bill are still in it. They include a requirement for future handgun buyers to submit fingerprints to the state police to get a license and limiting magazines to 10 bullets. An assault weapons ban also is in the bill.
