Retired officer shoots, kills would-be intruder in Md.

WASHINGTON – A retired D.C. police officer shot and killed a suspect during an attempted home invasion in Maryland Sunday, ABC7 reports.

Two suspects banged on the retired officer’s door at about 10:30 p.m. in Huntingtown, Md., according to the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. The men, who ABC7 says reportedly had baseball bats, made aggressive movements when the retired officer opened the door, and he fired.

One of the suspects died outside of the home, and another fled in a vehicle. The suspect who died had not been identified.

A lieutenant with the sheriff’s office says the homeowner feared for his life and “was acting in self-defense,” according to ABC7.
