APPOMATTOX, Va. (AP) -- Virginia's Piedmont region now has a coordinated regional police presence dedicated to cracking down on drug and other criminal activity.
The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Appomattox field office is partnering with five local law enforcement agencies to establish the Piedmont Regional Narcotic and Gang Enforcement Task Force.
Working with state police will be sheriff's offices from Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward counties, and police departments from Farmville and Longwood University.
