Frostburg State joins anti-campus violence effort

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- Frostburg State University says it's joining a national effort to curb campus violence.

The school in western Maryland is holding daily events Tuesday through April 5 as part of the campaign called Enough is Enough.

Tuesday's events include a panel discussion with several local pastors. Students and campus workers can also sign a pledge to take a stand against violence.

The school has sharpened its focus on violence prevention since the off-campus stabbing death in November 2011 of sophomore Kortneigh (KORT'-nee) McCoy of Baltimore. Fellow student Shanee (shah-NAY') Liggins of Waldorf was sentenced last week to 14 years in prison for second-degree murder.

Another Frostburg student, Brandon Carroll of Glen Burnie, was shot to death off-campus by fellow student Tyrone Hall in April 2010.
