Carpet installer picks $1M lottery prize

WASHINGTON – A Sterling, Va., man has won $1 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Saul Tejada bought the ticket at a 7-Eleven store in Annandale, Va., along with a drink, the Virginia Lottery announced Thursday.

“I just put it in my pocket and kept going,” he said in a lottery statement. “I didn’t think about it.”

He later scratched the ticket while riding in a car with a friend, he said.

Tejada, a carpet installer, chose the one-time cash payout and will take home more than $560,000 before taxes, the lottery said.

The $120 Million Cash Blowout game offers prizes ranging from $20 to 20 separate $1 million prizes. Tejada is the 19th winner to claim the top prize of $1 million, the lottery said.

Last week, a lottery player bought a $1 million Powerball ticket at a Sheetz in Leesburg.
