RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Chesterfield County authorities believe a husband and wife whose bodies were found in a burning home died as the result of a murder-suicide.
Police say the bodies recovered following the Thursday night fire were those of 50-year-old Walter Hester Jr., and his wife, 45-year-old Claira Hester.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/XOABJD ) that police said evidence at the scene suggests the husband shot his wife and set several fires in the house before turning the gun on himself.
Police believe the weapon used was a semi-automatic pistol.
The bodies were found on different floors of the two-story structure.
According to real estate records, the couple had lived at the home since purchasing it in 2004.
