Va. farmers sought for new graziers' networks

Tuesday - 3/5/2013, 11:12am  ET

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Farmers are being sought to participate in two new graziers' networks in the Shenandoah Valley.

The Shenandoah Graziers' Network will be concentrated in Rockingham, Rockbridge and Augusta counties. Augusta County extension agent Matt Booher tells the Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/100PVBK ) that the goal is to improve grazing management on farms.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is working to establish another network in Shenandoah County.

Both groups would address topics such as soil fertility, fencing and water systems, and rotational grazing.

Forage and grassland agronomist J.B. Daniel with the Natural Resources Conservation Service says the groups' success could help launch similar networks around Virginia.
