RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- The U.S. Department of Education's lead official on adult and technical education is headed to the Richmond area for two stops.
Brenda Dann-Messier will visit Highland Springs High School and Technical Center on Friday to meet students, teachers and business partners. She'll also participate in a roundtable discussion.
Later Friday, Dann-Messier will meet with the Virginia Literacy Leadership Council. The meeting will focus on President Barack Obama's goal to improve adult literacy.
Dann-Messier is the U.S. assistant secretary for vocational and adult education at the education department.
