CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- University of Virginia employees have set a record for giving.
Last year, university workers gave more than $1 million to the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign. It's the first time they've topped the $1 million mark. That giving is 27 percent of the statewide campaign total of $4.1 million.
The Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign is the annual charity drive for state employees.
Since the year 2000, U.Va. workers have contributed more than $9 million to the campaign. Campaign volunteers will be honored next week.
