FREDERICK, Md. -- Court records show that a suspected Frederick drug dealer was under police surveillance for more than six weeks before he was killed.
The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/X7i7lv) reported Thursday that the Frederick County Narcotics Task force obtained a wiretap Oct. 5 for the cellphone of 37-year- old John Ryan. A Crofton businessman accused of killing Ryan, Michael Stahlnecker, was arrested Tuesday as he prepared to board an international flight in New York.
Police say the men held meetings in October in California and in early November in Laurel.
They say cellphone records indicate both men were in Laurel and Gaithersburg on Nov. 28.
Ryan's body was found Dec. 3 in the trunk of his car in a Derwood parking lot. The trunk also contained about a pound of marijuana and $1,000.
