CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - An Albemarle County supervisor will spend 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to sexual battery.
Media outlets report that 27-year-old Christopher J. Dumler entered his plea to the misdemeanor charge Thursday in Albemarle County General District Court. He originally was charged with forcible sodomy charge, a felony.
Dumler's attorney, Andrew Sneathern, says his client maintains he is innocent of the original charge.
Sneathern says Dumler will apply to serve the sentence on weekends.
Dumler issued a public apology to the victim. He said he was sorry for any hurt that his actions caused her.
He says he looks forward to getting back to work as a county supervisor.
